Drop, Add, and  Withdrawal
 · Calendar& catalogue:

 o  For specific dates per semester remember to consult the academic calendar

 ·  What does drop-add mean? 
o  Last day at the start of the term to join or leave a course without tuition cost

 · How do I find that date?
o  See academic calendar link above

 · Can I join a course already in progress?
o  Yes, if the professor approves

 o  Yes, if it is no later than the deadline for drop-add

 · Can I leave a course without it being reflected on my transcript or costing me tuition money?
 o  Yes, if you request the drop by the end of the drop-add date 

· What is the difference between a drop and a withdrawal?
 o  A course drop will not be reflected on your transcript and you will receive full tuition remission 
 
o  Withdrawal will be noted on your transcripts as a ‘W’ beside the course attempted and may result in
tuition costs per the following.

 § First week: 100% remission
 § Second week: 50% remission
 § Third week: 25% remission
 § After third week: no remission  
 
o  When is the last day I can request a withdrawal?

 · How do I request a withdrawal?

·  What can I do if I cannot complete my coursework before the end of the term?
o  Your professor has the option of granting you an extension (incomplete grade). 
An extension is rare and will depend upon the circumstances and is solely at the discretion of your professor.  

· What if I fail a course?
 o  You will be suspended from the program until the course is offered again. At which time, you must retake the course and pass with a B or higher

 o  If you fail a second course, you will be removed from the program.

What if I get a C? 
·  You may receive 2 C grades during the course of the program. A student who receives a third C grade must retake one of the courses and receive a B or higher. 

 o  The application of these policies is subject to the discretion of the program director.

 ·How can I transfer in credits from another university?
o  You may request to transfer up to 6 hours (two courses) of coursework from outside the university.  
 
o  They must come from a regionally accredited university.

 · How do I apply for graduation?                
o  You must submit the graduate application by November 1st prior to the spring commencement exercise in which you wish to participate.
 o  A notice will be sent out each year with instructions on how to access and use the graduation
application.
o  You can participate in commencement while still having two courses remaining to complete the program.  
 
·  Where does graduation take place?
 o  Commencement ceremonies are held on university campuses and most other center locations.
 o  Location information  will be included in the graduation application notice.

 · What if I do not wish to participate in the graduation ceremony?
 o  Even if you do not want to participate in the commencement ceremony, you must still complete and submit
the graduation application after the completion of your final course in order to have your degree conferred and the diploma mailed to you.
